Makeover for your Mind

Mind? Makeover? What am I talking about?

J-WHO is hosting yet another informative event for women.
In 'A Makeover for your Mind' (flyer here) we will focus on emotional balance, self esteem and the overall concept of getting in touch with our feelings.

Sarede Switzer will talk about the relationship between our physical and emotional health. Her goal is to help us get in touch with our bodies. Sarede will cover the importance of coordination, spatial awareness, self confidence & posture. She will share the benefits of physical exercise and how it can alter mood, balance hormones and relieve minor anxiety and depression. She will also share some practical tips on incorporating fitness into our daily lives. Go Sarede! 

Dr. Craig Podell, LCSW will share methods and techniques in which we can strengthen ourselves and capture the energy, confidence and enthusiasm for life that tends to elude us when we feel down and out.

Many issues which will be addressed including:

  •  How low self esteem is formed  
  •  Understanding the inner experience  &behavioral patterns
  •  Recognizing & dismantling negative thinking & painful feelings
  •  Altering one ’s self defeating behaviors 
  • Setting limits with others

 Dr. Podell will offer techniques including cognitive reframing skills, self-soothing and visualization exercises which will empower us to think and feel better about ourselves and our relationships.
Craig Podell LCSW is a clinical social worker, who has been in private practice in Brooklyn for over 32 years. He was formerly a Clinical Supervisor for over 14 years at the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Columbia School of Social Work. Over the years Craig has been a mental health consultant for numerous yeshivas, private, and public schools as well as with various community social service agencies and hospitals. He has published a number of professional articles on psychotherapy with adolescents, bereavement, and trauma.

This event will take place Wednesday, May 12th at Bnos Menachem.
